(Audio only)

Irish folksinger Adrienne Johnston (who had performed as one third of famed folksinging trio The Johnstons) represented her adopted homeland (the USA) in the 1977 World Popular Song Festival with the tune "If Poems Died Like Promises". Due to an oversight, the song was disqualified after the semi-final, apparently it had been released two years previously on Adrienne's solo album for EMI (this was against the rules. Since 1971, songs had to be newly written specifically for the festival and can't have been released previously).

Adrienne died in a fatal car crash in 1981.
