Diana is a piano player AND can interpret the concept of the song.....

She's FIRST a piano player...and can interpret and sing as well.
Keep it in this perspective, and it will all be viewed differently.

Diana's piano playing is just unparalleled. Not a lot of artists can sing so smoothly and play the piano so..."prettily" together. This is just plain-old pretty. And sexy. And smooth. And....sexy.

She's just playing basic licks like a monkey or a MIDI sequencer could do...

She hasn't created anything

They didn't get any shouts on "The Jools Holland Show" which this clip is from. And I doubt they're the same musicians who recorded on Krall's last album.

Being a session musician means that you get to play with talent, but you rarely/never get the accolade. It goes with the territory.

I'm sure they don't mind and if they did, they can start an amazing act that gets on The Jools Holland Show, with them as the star.

I agree with you. Dusty's version is more playful and fun - I'm a big fan of DK but there's something a bit joyless about this.

I couldn't have said it better. Joyless is the definitive word here. I like DK also....but DS better...just my opinion.
