READ THE DESCRIPTION, LOL.

The "You'll Never Be Down" sessions PART TOO. PART WON is found exclusively on Facebook for all the cool kids ;)

THE SWANKY HORNS
Octavio N. Santos :: trumpet/vocals (just to guide this session)
Carlos Jarquin :: alto saxophone
Zack Hamilton :: trombone
--
David Seale :: keyboards

First of all, I would like to mention that any off notes were a result of my slave drivin'. I whip my people (with an actual whip) until they comply.

Naww, but it was a 4.5 hour rehearsal session and 3.5 was basically runnin' horn lines, figurin' out harmonies (amidst the jokes and the "easy button" presses) and tryin' not to get on each other's nerves, HAHAHA! This was the very last time we ran the joint before Mr. Seale had to run off for another rehearsal sesson (THE LIFE OF US MUSICIANS) and I recorded it too...my peoples were exhausted and Carlos needed an oxygen tank, LOL! Sawwwwry.

Most of the players of the group were not in session for various reasons. No drummer, guitarist or bassist. Casey, the main dude for this song (cuz it IS his song) had to do his own rehearsal session for his show that night, openin' for Erez Sussman's album release party so he couldn't join us. We took the initiative to run a horn writin' session and figure things out and add stuff to this AOL Sessions-esque video in the works for "You'll Never Be Down".

After writin' out and figurin' the parts that gelled together, we played it over and over and over and over and...well, you get the damn point.

As a guide, I sang out the parts that Casey would normally sing (only when I wasn't playin' trumpet) since there was no Casey in the buildin'. No drummer in the house so we let a makeshift drum pattern flow with us.

We got productive.

So reminder that if you hear an off note, sue us and read above.

PROMINENT TIMES:
0:32 :: Carlos looks at me if I was gonna go whack him for the minor squeak, LOL!
1:14 :: Zack & I take the time durin' the break to empty our condensation valves. IT'S CONDENSATION, AIGHT?!
1:47 :: Carlos looks at me, like he's lookin' for approval ("That was ok, right?")...he admits later when I look at the video that that was exactly what he was lookin' for, LOL!!!!
2:33 :: Carlos says: "Sing a little longer so I can rest", BAHAHAHA!!!! That's normally where Damon would solo on his guitar a good 16 bars. Told you man was dyin'! I'm also just makin' stuff up as I sing at this point...normally no singin' there.
3:46 :: My embouchure slipped...sawwwwry.
4:05 :: I should be sayin' a eulogy cuz death was eminent, LOL!
4:35 :: David's expression was priceless after Zack's ending. We were talkin' earlier that this joint is gonna be so tight that it'll need Ben Gay. Also the dope line of the session when we hit a chord in unison after figurin' out somethin', David says, "Man, my skin is crawlin'!"...good reaction, haha!

And I end off singin' Casey's hook that I couldn't sing cuz I was occupied with the horn.
