Vander Zalm Calls the Process "crap"
Victoria - It's a gutsy political play for time, but no one knows if it will succeed.
The Campbell government has voted to give British Columbians a vote on the HST September 24, 2011.
The result of the referendum won't be binding. And that's got the man at the head of the anti-HST fight saying he'll boycott the vote and put his efforts into bringing the government down one MLA at a time, through recall.
The NDP side of the legislature committee wanted on-the-record vote to repeal the tax, but lost a vote.
The referendum could cost up to 30 million dollars.
Vander Zalm says he won't participate in the vote, because it won't change anything. Instead, he's going to focus his efforts on recalling Liberal MLA's.
Another former premier is also adding to the drama. Rita Johnston was the last of BC's Social Credit premiers. Now she's back throwing her support behind the fledgling BC Conservative Party
