Hello, I've been collecting rare films and television programmes for nearly twenty years now and I thought it was high time I shared some clips from a few of the titles in my archive with you nice people out there. If you've a similar passion and would like to trade material or just want to say hello, thanks etc. get in touch with me here or at statesedgefilms@virginmedia.com
I look forward to hearing from (at least) a few of you and hope that you enjoy my humble offerings.
ACROSS THE LAKE (1988)
Across the Lake details the final two months in the life of Donald Campbell, here played by Anthony Hopkins. Haunted by the spectre of his equally famous father, who years earlier had set the world land speed record, Campbell is determined to carve his own niche by challengeing the water speed record in his own personal motored vessel, Bluebird. Alas, this undertaking proves to be the headstrong Campbell's undoing. Veteran stage and screen actress Phyllis Calvert makes a rare TV appearance as Donald's mother, Lady Campbell.
An excellent film, especially considering it was a film made for tv by the BBC! This film and seeing the replica the BBC built for this film at the Ruskin Museum when I was little are the main reasons why I see Donald Campbell as one of my life long hero's! Can't wait to see the real Bluebird K7 return, fully restored to Coniston!
