Secularism was born during a"Dark Period"of European history when religious wars and religious fundamentalism reigned. Over a million women were burnt as witches and fear and hatred blossomed,killing Catholics and Protestants,other galore
Singaporeans who are good at science but weak in history may not understand why good sense and tolerance have been made the cornerstone of a Secular society.
Their myopia means they can be turned into religious nuts by hate mongers who pose as good shepherds.

Homosexuality IS perfectly normal. If your definition of normal is pure heterosexual relationships, you've really gotta see the world in a different light. Nobody's encouraging homosexuality; we try our best to EDUCATE people about acceptance and minimise marginalism because it is DISCRIMINATORY. Will you disown your son if he were gay? Would you want to see him spit at the gay classmate everytime he sees him? Do you tell your kid these? Do you encourage social disharmony because of differences?

Although Pearl Forss could have reported in a more 'objective' manner, it is reasonable for her to take a firm stand with such tonality against forces that will undermine the stability of Singapore's racial harmony. It has little to do with taking sides like a football match.
Therefore, we should never be neutral about fundamentalist organizations trying to assert their authority over the whole nation that lays the precedent for a highly polarized and divided society.

qert, you are obviously very ignorant about what's going on. we were not merely being "kaypoh"- we were standing up against the encroachment of religion on a secular organization; we were standing up against blatant homophobia and ignorance; we were standing up against the unfair usurpation of an organization by devious means. Please, go read up and check your facts before you make such ignorant comments.
