Samovar Russian Folk Ensemble

"Samovar" Russian Folk Ensemble is performing at the World Bank Celebration Cultures Showcase. The Russian folk song "Ukhar-Kupets" (The Smart Merchant) tells a story about a merchant who is returning from the successful business trip. He stops at the village and in the best Russian tradition decided to make the entire village drunk celebrating his success. He comes out in his red shirt - beutiful and drunk - and chooses a beatiful girl. But her mother is on the watch adn stops him. "Fine" - says the merchant. "I will find another one".
The second song - a Ukrainian traditional song - shares a happy love story of a dark as a gypsy girl who falls in love with just as dark-hair Ivanka.
