This is a custom 8 head LED traffic advisor I built from scratch. It has 6 differnt flash patterns as seen here.

The 8 light heads are each made from 36 amber 5mm leds, wired in rows of 4 with a current limiting resitor.

The control unit is made from off the self electronic parts. A PIC micro-controller is used to control the patterns and darlintons are used to handle the switching. Lights are switched low side.

  • What are you using to create the flash patterns?

-I have a SWS Canada 4outs flasher with about 18 different patterns..

Also, if you have any blueprints or anything like that to help me out with building my own, that would be awesome!

    Thank you!

  • I used a PIC16F628A to control the patterns. Its a midrange micro-controller, and does require some basic skills and hardware to program.

I am not familair with the flasher you have.

I do not have an plans for this one. I am working on an simalar unit and will post plans online when I get done with it.

  • SWEET!!!!! ARE YOU GONNA GO INTO BUSINESS!!!!

I am a firefighter/EMT on a rural fire district. Our fire engine needs one of those.

  • No plans to sell any. I have been thinking of making version 2.0 and documenting it so folks can follow along. Maybe this winter when I have some time. :)
