While no, Anne Hathaway didn't have to loose any weight for Les Miserables, she lost her weight for her role as Selina Kyle in The Dark Knight Rises, so she could pull off the cat suit, and I do believe this was around the same time that she was filming Les Miserables, because if you noticed some of the images of her when they were talking about DKR, she had little to no hair. She did sing the song well, her voice has so much power in it.

THIS is how it should have sounded in the movie....Ann Hathoway was awful......overacted, she didn't really actually sing and make anything beautiful....no magic........she didn't need to lose weight either....plenty of professional singers who actually know what they are doing manage to perform night after night without starving themselves...oh, so funny, when she chokes in the middle of the song.....like Hathoway....
