Are the sign holders the news anchors for WBZ? Since I don't live in Boston, I obviously don't watch WBZ, but those people look familiar from what I've seen about WBZ.
What's most amazing is that this promo probably didn't cost that much yet has generated tons of buzz and heavily increased ratings for the station. It's great to see in a world of mindless TV that the masses will still reward creativity.
As for the promo elements, I think the music is too campy to promote the evening news, but it's absolutely perfect for the morning crew.
