  • Remember this well. I still call it Cities Service out of some wierd sense of iconoclasm. Also call Exxon Esso.

  • I agree. But lifes a gas ..bad pun sorry

  • If you were a tree, what kind of commercial would you be in. We now know. Great Clip!

  • your barking up the wrong treee...sorry I have to branch out my thoughts, and get to the root of the problem.

  • I STILL don't understand why. Exxon is a sucky name. At least Esso stands for Standard Oil-makes you think of old man Rockefeller handing out dimes.

  • My dad had a Cities Service station, and I remember the promotional EP that came to us with that theme song on it. I remember watching, as a little boy, the sign getting changed! I miss you dad!

  • "Zoom zoom zoom zoom, Citgo zoom." They don't write slogans like they used to.

  • @2005dave I remember the name change, and this wonderful jingle. (Don't try to figure out my age, LOLOLOLOL).

  • Anyone here really think that Ed McMahon drove a Chevy, much less one that needed oil very often?

  • My grandfather was the CEO of Cities Service in the 60s... Finally I get to see what it was like...

  • @ETericET We sure did. My family had a store in central VA for years. From 1966 to '82 we used to pump gas, check oil, and clean windows.

  • I've been looking for that "Cities Service is Citgo now" jingle forever. THANKS for sharing!

  • I remember this commercial from when I was a 9 year old living in Kansas. There was a Cities Service station on the corner aboiut 3 blocks or so from our house and I remember the name change to Citgo quite well.

    Great job Ira...keep it up!

  • I remember the name change, and also seeing billboards with both McMahon and Walters. Amazing what you remember from when you were four.
