  • I mean, using 2 motu 8pre and 2 others ADA, in this case I can use 32 channels at the same time?

  • @fabiofmesquita You can only daisy chain one unit as a converter and one as a master/interface. If your other device has 24 channels and it has ADAT then I guess it "might work" but odds are it will require different drivers and won't. I haven't tried it but I do know you can only use two of these at the same time. :)

  • What preamp do you use for your vocals?

  • @JimmyCoola1 hi I use the Joe Meek Twin Q now :)

  • I was running out of space last post.. Am i able to contact you via phone or something? I have alot of questions and would appreciate the help! I wont take up too much time approx 5-10 mins. Just need some quick answers. Im not a weirdo, just a guy that needs a little help here and the guys at the Music retail stores are morons trying to sell me more than i need. That's all I want to know, is what I need other than my Motu 8 pre to get started. please let me know if that would be ok. thx again!

  • @Jon123W I didn't see this but feel free to ask me any questions via private message and I will reply.

  • You sound like the "Australian" guy on House... lol

  • Hi, can I record 16 analog inputs plus 16 opticals inputs? 32 channels at the same time?

  • Just a precaution: Don't make the mistake of inserting the firewire up-side-down into the 8 pre. I accidentally broke my firewire port doing this!

FYI, if you do make this mistake, buy a new 8 pre and use ADAT cables to link the old to the new. The old 8pre functions in "converter" mode while the new 8pre functions in "interface" mode (when connected to DAW via firewire). By doing this, you can still utilize the 8 channels from the "broken" 8pre, but it will cost you the price of a new 8pre

  • anyone had problems linking two 8pre's together to go into a PC (cubase)? i heard this was problematic. I have one 8pre and it works great.....wanted to upgrade to 16 channel capability.....was thinking mackie 1620i but its twice the price of the 8pre....

  • E WAS UP HOMIE I HAVE THIS UNIT THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THIS UNIT IS THE VOCALS DONT SOUND SOLID THEY SOUND HOLLOW AND EVEN WITH THE MY PRESONUS MP2020 PREAMP MY EQ MY COMPRESSOR/GATE AND MY 24 CHANNEL MIXER AND STILL SOUNDS HOLLOW IS THEIR A SITE WHERE YOU POSTED ONE OF YOURE RECORDINGS TO C IF YOU HAVE SAME PROBLEM

  • @MyNameIsBlakeW Sure it's like a mixer.

  • Just curious, have you tried daisy-chaining unit B to unit A through the firewire? ADAT is limited to 48khz/24bit so the 8pre's 88.2 or 96k settings are unusable on your 2nd interface. From what I understand, though, routing both devices via firewire would let you get all 16 analog ins useable at 96k.
