Wow. This actually brought tears to my eyes. Incredible courage and dignity.

@TheObscurelord how was she stupid?

This makes me so unbelievably sad. Nothing justifies this kind of wholesale attack on someone who was just trying to speak up for human rights.One can't simply judge or define her entire character by that one event, which was just a passionate outcry against something she herself experienced during her childhood. Perhaps her method was too provocative, but knowing this suffering at such a personal level, was it really so "crazy" for her to be so driven in her protest? Stay strong Sinead.

At the time, few understood Sinaed's protest....now, we all understand. God bless you, Sinaad....He is most certainly on your side!
Im confused, can someone please tell me what country this was in and what just happened. Were the crowd applauding her or booing her off and if so why?

@XXgav123xx Before this concert O'Connor appeared on Saturday Night Live as a musical guest. She sang an a cappella version of Bob Marley's "War", which she intended as a protest over the sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church, by changing the lyric "racism" to "child abuse." She then presented a photo of Pope John Paul II to the camera while singing the word "evil", after which she tore the photo into pieces, said "Fight the real enemy", and threw the pieces towards the camera (Wiki)
