A group of more than 45 volunteers from the University of Texas at Arlington spent a recent Saturday morning clearing a portion of River Legacy Parks of the invasive plant privet. Privet is a nonnative plant that chokes the other native plants, reducing the amount of water and nutrients available to the native plants resulting in a negative effect on the diversity of the flora and fauna of River Legacy Parks and the balance of the ecology. The privet removal project was a collaborative effort of the River Legacy Foundation, Arlington Parks and Recreation Department, UTA, Molly Hollar of the Arlington Wildscape, Texas Invasives Regional Chapter, Cross Timbers Invaders Chapter, and the Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association.
so are you guys just trimming or did you pull from the roots? Because privets when cut will grow twice as thick....
