Mercedes isn't comfort... their softest model rides like the hardest Jag. Mercedes is also the most poorly made luxury brand, with lowest owner satisfaction, and BMW is overpriced for what you get.

Even mercedes is replacing the 6,2 V8 N7A with a new 5,5 lter V8 twin turbo more powerful and efficient...I really would like to know which will be the best...we'll see on top gear...:)

hahahaa... just because you the pioneer for a technology doesn't automatically satisfy you being better than those who didn't pioneer it. ;)

Mercs mainly pioneered safety mechanisms like seatbelt tensioners, airbags and other safety features, among other technologies. If they are such 'great' pioneers like you say they are; how hard is it for Merc to pioneer the 'best performance/efficient/evolutio­nary engine' in the world? It can't be that hard for them to win an International Engine award.

being a BMW, I can agree as much as I'd like too. But realistically, its such a false statement in both ways for BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Either one of the other has a huge lead on the other. The only commendable attribute Merc has over BMW is its elegance echoed by its long established name and heritage. BMW cannot match this, much like how Merc can even possibly fit on the level of Rolls Royce in terms of elegance; yet BMW owns Rolls Royce ;)

Merc is a well established brand, so of course it would be on top. Especially if we are considering automotive racing. They've been it in much longer. If you want to compare what brand was on top?

No BMW compares to the 'street legal' CLK DTM because i) its purely a racing car driving around your suburbia and ii) no out-of-factory tuner has released their 'cars' as street legal.
