@Mikkedev Genes don't lie- some Jews came from the Levant, we know, because they're very close to Palestinians (even if not so much Samaritans- but we would expect that since Samaritans and Judeans were enemies and forbidden to intermarriage)- some are descended from Khazars, some form local European (one marker is mostly identified to a Scandinavian source)((R1A1)). They are a mixture. But only a small percentage carry actual genes that may have been Levantine in origin.

However, we know from subsequent research that R1a1 comprises nearly 12% of Ashkenazi results, while the Levites only make up about 4-5 % of the Jewish people (Nebel et al. 2005). Thus, these results extend well beyond the Levite priestly class to approximately 5-8% of the Cohanim and Israelites (the non-priestly Jewish population) as well.
