It was Sunday, October 13th, 1991. After not a little negociating and finessing by management and yours truly, Montreal band 'MONDAY' appeared on Nu Musik hosted by the incomparable Claude Rajotte. Live
segments interspersed with the best of 'alternative' videos of the day. Man that term alternative has changed over the years! This was an interesting time for the band. Having played the original circuit around town i.e. STATION 10, THE TERMINAL, FOUFFOUNES ELECTRIQUES, THE
PIONEER CLUB et al, they were starting to play more often farther afield in Toronto, Oshawa, North Bay and points in between. A Western tour was planned commencing in December. Superb driving weather in Canada! MONDAY had just finished recording an E.P. (on cassette no less) entitled 'LOUDER' and were to play songs off it on NU MUSIK. At the time we had a bit of a revolving door bass player situation due to the recent exit of our dear friend Yuri Mohacsi who went on to play with PUSHING UP DAISIES, THE ASEXUALS, etc. In steps in for the interim one Bob Eaglesham who stepped up to the plate with gusto for this show and the odd gig. Later bassists included Jon Oliver (later of THE STILLS) and Steve Robertson (TROUBADOUR, CRAZYFACE) who ended up doing the December tour. Memories of this gig for me include doing the soundcheck the night before and salivating over the incredible gear and nice technical people. A real change from the club guys! Also seeing U2's 'THE FLY' video for the first time, news of recent Miles Davis' death and, wait
for it.. Claude Rajotte holding up the Nirvana NEVERMIND cd during the commercial and saying 'si tu aime les groupes de guitares, Jamie, ecoute donc a NIRVANA.' Smells Like Teen's Spirit premiered on the show as well as RHCP 'Give it away now'. A snapshot in time when the charts were finally looking good and the stars were to align for a short time.Flash forward to January '92, I left the band abruptly (sorry guys) and went on the form CRAZYFACE with Steve Robertson and Victor Levy in
early 1992. On to Vancouver in 1993 then to DIESEL CANDY and JUNKY GODS.

MONDAY carried on full steam ahead with a new guitarist and a new adventure. A big shout out of respect and a big smile goes out to my ex band mates in MONDAY.

May you stay LOUD and get LOUDER as the years go by...

ps a big thanks to Bob Eaglesham for still having this tape! Crystal clear copies from the master exist but have been lost in time....
