Lost in Dreams is a nice little puzzle/solo dungeon crawl in the Fade that is well-thought out and unique. This series of videos, created on my second playthrough (which I'm still doing, right now) of Dragon Age, shows the perfect and most efficient method of obtaining everything and defeating all foes, in the shortest time possible.

Whilst clearing out the tower of the Circle of Magi at Lake Calenhad, the Hero and team encounters a Sloth Demon that imprisons them in its own realm within the Fade, thus starting the quest: Lost in Dreams. The Hero has to explore this realm, freeing the rest of the party and finding a way to defeat the Sloth Demon to escape the Fade...

The Circle Tower is the third place I recommend visiting after leaving Lothering (the first would be the Wonders of Thedas shop in Denerim, to pick up the Archivist's Sash; and the second would be the village of Honnleath, to recruit the mighty Shale), for the fact that it has several good items for any class - and also this quest, which allows the Hero to gain permanent bonuses to all attributes - 7 level-ups' worth, in fact.

The purpose of this walkthrough series is to illustrate that even a very weak character, barely more powerful than a starting-out level 1 Hero, can fly right through this quest on the highest (Nightmare) difficulty setting, given the correct tactics and use of the alternate forms.

Video time 01:20 shows the Hero starting out the quest. I picked the two most useful starting spells in the game for my Mage - Heal and Winter's Grasp - and as is obvious from the Level Up screen, have yet to use any of the talent points earned since (10!), nor a fair portion of the attribute points or skill points. I can always use my Mage's unspent points later.

I also show my equipment - including the Final Reason staff (Collector's Edition item), and the Archivist's Sash from Denerim, as mentioned above.

As I head towards the first confrontation, video time 01:50 shows my character passing a luminous object on her right - she will have to come back later with the Spirit Form to obtain that bonus.

Once the fight with Duncan starts, the trick (as usual) is to take out the enemy mage first. The rest of it then goes much more easily. Thereafter, the Hero picks up the first form - the Mouse - at The Raw Fade. Then its off to the next island - The Darkspawn Invasion.

  • I FREAKING HATED THIS PART OF THE GAME. I was fine with it once, but the rest of the game is just so damn good that I keep making new characters and new stories... and then this, the freaking bane of my existence appears. At least now I can beat this forward, backwards, and sideways now.

  • Al Mualim

  • Is it me, or does the abomination sound like he has an American accent, rather than a British one?

  • Did anyone else thing of the end scene of labyrinth at 0:49? You have no power over me? poor David Bowie.
