For Sam, because she actually WATCHES, actually COMMENTS, and actually likes it. (: And because she's making me a video, and is cooler than you. So yeah. :D

I remember how things were before Lexi died. Her, Evan, and I were really close. We did everything together for years, even before they got together. Then, about a year and a half ago, Toby started tagging along, too. People thought that we were dating, but he was just Evan's really good friend. I think Evan probably needed to have another guy around. So then there were four of us. Toby and Lexi had been pretty close, but me and him never really seemed to click. Thinking about it now, I'm not sure how we managed to be together so often and not actually be friends. Especially when we had both Evan and Lexi in common.
Nobody really realized, but Evan and I were super close. Not in the way that he was my best friend's boyfriend though, like everyone thought. I was actually the person that introduced them. He had been in most of my classes 8th grade and freshman year, so we talked all the time. For a while, he was one of the only people I trusted, and he probably even knew me better than Lexi did.
But then, Lexi died, and so did my friendship with Evan.
Anyways, no matter how close me and Toby were to Lexi and Evan, we sort of just stayed out of each other's way. We hung out a lot, obviously, but never went out of our way to talk to each other.
---
"Evan!" I yelled down the hall. He had always been pretty tall, which tends to come in handy in situations like this. Even though he was walking pretty far ahead of me, I could see him stop and turn his head to see who was looking for him. I walked faster and called out his name again. This time, I was close enough that he saw me. He walked towards the edge of the hall by the lockers to get out of the crowd of people that were trying to get to class.
"What's up?" he asked when I walked up to him.
"Do you think it's my fault?" I ask in return.
He rolled his eyes before telling me, "I have to get to class."
"Do you think it's my fault?" I repeat. I have to know. I deserve to know.
He sighs, "Where's this coming from Emmi?"
"Evan."
"What?"
"Tell me." I stare at him, but instead of answering me, he just walks passed me on his way to class.
I was just about to walk away to class as well when I heard a voice behind me.
"That was harsh," the voice said. I turn around and stare right into the dark brown eyes of Toby Powell.
I quickly look at the floor. "Yeah, well, that's Evan," I tell him, adding a little sigh.
"But it's not your fault. At all." He looks at me, and when I don't say anything back, he asks me, "You know that, right?"
"To Evan, it is. I may not have hit her, but she wouldn't have even been out that night if it wasn't for me."
"But..."
"I'm late for class," I tell him before walking off without ever making any eye contact at all.

  • aw. :(

Evan is being so rude to Emmi. At least Toby is being nice to her, instead of making her feel worse.

Thank you so much for dedicating this to me :)

I love you so much <3 That video is coming really soon. I'm working on it!
