Here's one of the Maori Taiaha for sale at www.shopenzed.com. We describe the parts of the taiaha and how the taiaha was used. This taiaha has a carved blade ( rau), traditional rounded shaft, and a head ( upoko) with NZ Paua shell eyes, feather decoration, and a protruding tongue. The tongue is made from greenstone jade. We have 5 different taiaha available, including one traditionally carved by a master Maori carver.

  • Beautiful! I've always wanted an authentic Maori Taiaha, but always figured I could never afford one. I wouldn't even know where to find them for sale.

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN These are all available at the Shopenzed online store.

  • This one is carved also. Brian's has more hand carving and the timber is more expensive.

  • @dybeen if you lookin at getting 1 made 4 u bro measure from ground up to the bottom of your chin. The feathers "makawe" hair is used to distract your opponent like chinese weapons of old. the carved face is that of Tumatauenga god of fire, war and man. Whom had 2 faces to see front and back. thumbs up if you want the story.

  • I'm definitely gonna buy one. What's the difference between the various full-sized taiaha? Is this one not carved in comparison to the traditionally carved taiaha by Brian Mitchell your site is selling?
