Ward vs. Froch - Post fight thoughts...

Ward produced an impressive display against Froch to win the Super Six tournament/trophy and unify the WBA and WBC Super middleweight belts. Perhaps an opponent with handspeed, power and great stamina would have a chance but, who is there with that combination of attributes at 168? Congrats to Ward.

Gd vid. Congrats To AW, a great performance by a wide margin. Picked CF n was hoping he would causes an upset but he was truly outclassed. No shame in losing to the very best when u've tried ur best. Love this tourney albeit some hiccups along the way, bright lights at the end of the tunnel.

@miktoh - Thanks Miktoh. Yea, the Super Six was a great spectacle and really good for boxing. Ward was just too good for Froch. Though the consolation Froch can take away is that he showed he had the better stamina in the last 3 rounds and of course hits harder. But great win for Ward, now he has the world at his feet.

This might sound weird but I feel Dirrell can take Ward. Thing is, though, dude can't fight in the inside haha! great video my friend.

@sundalo3 - I think Dirrell has the edge in hand speed and possibly more fluent combinations but as you say, he can't fight inside. Also, there are big question marks over Dirrell's heart and courage. Ward on the other hand has shown he has heart as well such an amazing inside game.

I cant see Ward being beaten in a long time...he is just too rounded and does everything well!! Can box at range, then mix it up and brawl in close, he mixed his game up soo well in the fight that it was hard for Froch to work him out!! He would box and come forward, then counter, then take it inside and he did them all well!!

I think unless you catch him clean and test the chin youll struggle to beat him...Andre Dirrell has the speed but he cant fight inside..Ward would smother him!!!

@MajorHank1 - I agree, I don't really see anybody who can test him at 168, even Bute. Dawson or Cloud at 175 would be interesting, though Ward would probably be favourite against both, even at the higher weight. Perhaps Pirog would have a good chance, should he move up to 168 and bring his power up?? But if I'm truly honest, I don't feel Ward is exciting to watch. He is rightfully one of the best fighters in the world though.

TBH I think fight came down to the fact that Ward is just soo good at everything that Froch couldnt get his shots off!! I think the 5th or 6th Froch put it on Ward and I thought the onslaught would come, but it was like every time Froch wanted to put it on him, Ward just closed the space and sat on his chest and went to work and smothered him!!

I think Ward was just too good, anyone else in the division Froch will give problems!!

@SuperiorBeen - Whoa there, name calling. I did'nt say Cloud is better than Bute but he has the kind of handspeed and power to give Ward problems if he were to move up. The Johnson that fought Cloud was fighting at 175 and coming off a KO win over Mack in an IBF eliminator. Bute fought a 168 version of Johnson who'd come off a loss to Froch and 1 year after the Cloud fight and at a dropped weight at age 42. Bute does not have the combination of hand and foot speed to match Ward.
