I don't understand, Mrs. Stevens keeps talking about the police "obstructing her work", but all she seems to be doing is running a "playground" for serious offenders!

this show was excellent most of the time. writing, directing, and acting. kevin whately especially. take another look at his performance in the very 1st episode ("the dead of jericho"). f-ing brilliant in spots.
but some of the time ... this show was sooooo very pretentious. watched by the little PBS liberals who like to pretend they're cultured, WELL-educated, and intelligent.

80's actually.

Excellent work, keep it up. I'll be subscriber to you

1992, apparently. It seems like a whole other world ;)

must have been done in the 70s? no cell phones, old computers, tape cassettes

The answer not given: "If your experiment is so bloody fragile that it threatens to collapse by the very pursuit of a murder case, then I suggest the experiment is not worth keeping. And if it is, then I suppose it ought likely withstand a proper investigation such as this."

Ta'
That's Jim Broadbent's gift, that "spaciness" that he imbues his characterisations with.
