This song has been composed by Harikesavanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar and when he was under the patronage of Maharajah Krishnaraja Wodiar. The raja was sick and no cure could be experienced despite of Palace doctors. Then, Muthiah Bhagavathar composed this song in praise of Deity Chamudeshwari, praying her to cure the illness of the Maharajah and the prayer has been answered. You will notice the name of the maharajah in the lyrics
