@Jimmyd45 Hi Jerome, thanks!
There were about 250 people in the room, of which about 50 on a mezzanine towards the back. I am not a stage magician, and my repertoire is pretty much exclusively close up. I had 5 minutes to perform because I needed to squeeze a 30 min lecture in 20 min, so I settled on this trick, because it's very strong. I thought it played great! The audience can see what's happening, and the volunteer confirms for everybody the identity of the card.

Amazing. Just one question, are you a member of the Magic castle?

@WeAreFuturistic Thank you! And to answer you question, no I'm not! I would love to be, and probably would apply for a membership if I lived in LA. So far I've only been there twice, both excellent experiences.

How can you get the cards back once the spectator picked the card without any downtime? Thanks!!!

@WhenCatSmiles I'm not sure what you mean. I hand the spectator the deck and say: "Take out one that you like, and hand me the rest of the deck." When she does, I hand them a sharpie so she can write her name on the card.

Perfect in every way !
Well done Luigi.
And thanks for making me aware of this incredible subtlety in the Giobbi version, that was absent in the original Carlyle trick, you know what i'm talking about ;)
One question though : how many people in the room ?
Does it play as strong on stage, with distance, as in close-up ?
Anyway, your video makes me want to try it on stage :p
Again, reaaaaaaaally nice job !

@Jimmyd45 Of course close up, when done right, it's a bloody miracle! One thing I left out, which I normally do close up, is start by taking everything out of my pocket and pulling the lining out to show it empty before I begin the trick. That requires tight audience management and misdirection to pull off, and with such a big audience, somebody would have caught on.
If you listen with headphones and crank the volume up, you can ear the woman next to the camera losing it... ;)
