Build up an assload of troops, with commissars, priests, psykers, and the general, then build up with leman russes and basilisks, and a few chimeras here and there for infantry support at other areas of heavy guerrila fighting. OOOORAH. Just drown the enemy in infantry and firepower.

well guards may be very fragile. but they are one of the best factions to play if you want to hold some ground or win a prolonged assault.

IG is a race that isn't forgiving for tactical blunders. You really have to know what you're doing or you'll lose too many men quickly. Kinda goes the same way for Eldar and Dark Eldar.
