Being powerful is not something to be proud of. One should be proud of being a just country. A fair country. A country that doesn´t pollute, that doesn´t destroy. I´m not talking ill of China. I´m just discussing the premise: power = pride.

Indeed. Power not in check is very dangerous. Power is something that has to be balanced. History is to be learnt from, so that things like the Cultural Revolution doesn't happen again. The Chinese shouldn't just discard their history so easily just because it's so horrible.
