Vince Souza is a man whose dream of singing was squashed in the 1930's when his mother had to turn down his music teacher's offer of teaching the talented youngster. There were too many kids to take care of in the family - 12 - and the Depression left no extra money for singing lessons. But in his 70's, Vince started singing at an open mic. His favorite crooners are: Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Harry Belafonte, to name just a few.
In this video, Vince sings "But Beautiful" at a school recital on February 26, 2011. He doesn't usually sit to sing - Vince still works six days a week as an apartment manager, and wouldn't have it any other way - but in this video he sits. Vince is recording a CD of his music with his teacher, Kathy. So...younger people take note that life emphatically does not end after 25, after 45, or after marriage and children. As another great song says: Dreams really do come true.
