From the 2002 Reissue of their first album

"23 Minutes Over Brussels" is a legendary live show on June 16, 1978 at the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, Belgium, that ended with the band being booed off the stage. In response to this, Elvis Costello, for whom Suicide was opening, played a very short, angry set, which incited a riot.

  • I had this on an album I got as a free giveaway from the NME in 1978, with the Berlin gig on the other side.

I saw them on the same tour in Glasgow - the hatred from the audience was palpable there too.

  • "what a drag you cant fuckin smoke!"

  • Thank you.
