Servicing an antique lock

My parent's house is old (150+ years) and has all antique door latches which I've been de-rusting, oiling, and generally fiddling with recently. My big question is about keys, though - having made a skeleton key for one of the locks out of plate aluminum only to find that it just sort of works, how difficult is it to get a key made professionally? It's easy enough to get the right measurements, but are the tools and materials available?

That is so cool. All of my properties are in the old section of Phila., Pa. so I know what these old door locks look like. Is that rust coming out of it?
BTW, I found you through a new subscriber of mine.

@red2chfdotherstuff I would have liked to follow in my Dads footsteps. He sold rocks and sand. ALOT of it. Its nice to have a business that keeps going thru the family. I think the locksmith business beats the audio business. I did not install, just sold, but I would not do it now. It was fun as a kid. To cutthroat for me now.
How long have you been in the locksmith business?

@22reTOYOTA I'm a 3rd generation locksmith. I grew up in the trade. I have been doing it full time for 19 years. My father owns his shop and now my wife and I own ours.
I have been messing with audio for 23 years and I have owned two shops.
