This Video Features the Rare Dodge St. Regis. I recorded these clips in Sept. 2009 & never did make a video of my find until now. So its from my "XFiles".

**This Model St. Regis was produced from 1979 til 1981 and available engines are the 3.7 225 slant (I-6), 5.2 318 & 5.9 360 V8's.

The St. Regis was based on Chrysler's rear wheel drive R-body platform, based on a modified version of the 1971 B-body design similar platform as the Dodge Charger and the Chrysler Cordoba.

The St. Regis name had originally been used on an uplevel trim package on the 1956 Chrysler New Yorker hardtop coupe, and again on the 1974-78 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham coupe.

**After 1979 the St. Regis went "Fleet Only". Only a relatively small number these St. Regis were made to begin with and several of them were were used and destroyed in action packed and car chase movies in the 1980's!....Making this car rare today. Although it has never been and is not today a popular "collectors car" in a traditional sense of the word. Thanks, -BOGAR!

  • Thanks for watching!!

  • Wow!; I guess that certainly is a piece of automotive history so to speak....cool video Bogar :)

  • @matts6887, hey Matt! Whats new with you? And yes For Sure Good piece of AutoMotive History. -BOGAR!

  • Neat finds! The St. Regis is a forgotten workhorse. I believe it still had leaf springs in the rear and a torsion bar sprung independent front. Ancient, but totally bullet proof. Too bad you couldn't get one of these with a 440!

  • @CorvusCasull, yeah i fully agree. And just one year before in 1977 you could get the capable 440 in the Monaco. Thanks for coming around, -BOGAR!

  • @j45007

Wow. I own a 1976 Newport sedan and a 1975 new yorker sedan.

Back in the 80s the chryslers and dodge c body cars got smaller (which I don't like) and they were all the same.

Nice vid man hope to see more.

  • I had a 1980 plymouth gran fury Texas unmarked patrol car back in 1989-90. had the 360 and God do i miss that car!

  • These are rare now since very few of them were sold and many of them were destroyed when they were used as police cars in a bunch of movies and tv shows!

  • Love to have one! It would be a great support vehicle for my Mirada, when I'm done with it. Too bad Ma Mopar didn't make any R-body wagons.

  • wonderful car that was way better than chevy and ford counterparts, i rode in one back in 1980... I predict it will make classic status on grounds on rarity alone!

  • @qwandiddy The R body cars were only made from '79-'81. None of them really sold well. Sales started out ok but tanked when the second energy crisis hit, and also due to Chryslers poor financial situation at the time. . With declining sales and rising gas prices, at the time, Chrysler foolishly took a gamble and dropped full their size cars for good after '81. Bad decision when you consider that GM and Ford's full sizers sold very well all through the '80's with little change.

  • Looks to be in quite a state of disrepair! What can you find out about its history and its current status?

  • Nice Car, Why did they stopped making them so early in 80s? They should've continued making them til 1991.

  • @andi4life I believe that I had the 79 New Yorker with that motor it would pick up and take off and all with a about

    20+ mpg
