my dad used to bring this exact laptop home, I remember it well, I used to play Quake 1 and Duke Nukem 3D on it :) when i was little. Btw. the specs are kinda like this : 32 MB RAM, 1.2 GB HDD (which was REALLY good back then) and (I think) 200 MHZ Pentium processor. It was made back 1995 actually ! NOT 1997 like you said.
a question how do you put windows 95 ? every time i set the time and date then insert a floppy disk in a floppy disk reader it says error how do i make it work? it happened as it happened to you in this vid
I just bought one on ebay for like $70
even if I have a windows 7 laptop.

XP, Vista, 7 will suck on that system. Anything older than XP is fine. Windows 3.1, 95, 98, Me, 2000 will work.
free Puppy Linux is the other option. Can be run from a blank disc. Or order one from on-disk*.com
The IBM I have is similar to yours:
150mhz Pentium MMX (1000mhz = 1ghz)
2gb HardDrive IDE type with upgrade size limit (1gb = 1000mb, 10gb = 10,000mb)
32mb SDRAM with upgrade size limit. (1000mb = 1gb)
