Quick walkthrough of how to reset the MAINT REQD light on an '07 Toyota Yaris. This also applies to many other Toyota vehicles with a MAINT REQD light.

It's not really a "Check Engine" light /per se/, there's nothing wrong with your car. It's a reminder every 5000 miles to take the vehicle in for preventative maintainence. Of course, if you do your own maintainence or take it somewhere other than a Toyota dealership, they will not reset the light for you. It's a quick 5 step process.

1) With the car on, tap the odometer reset button until "TRIP A" is displayed.
2) Turn the car off.
3) HOLD DOWN the odometer reset button and simultaneously turn the key back to the "ON" position.
4) CONTINUE HOLDING the odometer reset button until the dashes on the odometer "count down" and the odometer displays all zeros "000000" for a second.
5) Release the odometer reset button and then tap it until the normal odometer reading is displayed again.

  • I just went today to get an oil and filter change and I am seeing that the maintenance required indicator is still blinking but it goes away after while do you know what the reason might be????

  • @P0is0n85 It just wasn't reset. Perform the reset as show here, and it *should* clear up. If it does not, you might want to have your vehicle checked out.

  • falla vedere dalla toyota coglione!

  • I tried this on my 2004 Scion Xa and it's still the same for my 2009 Yaris.

Dealers are ALWAYS going to rip you off.
