NARMADA RIVER BY ANAS KHAN

The river Narmada is the first largest river of whole Madhya Pradesh state in central India. It is originated from Amarkantak, located at the easternmost tip of the Madhya Pradesh state. The river than passes through Jabalpur, where it is converted to the beautiful scenic beauty of Bhedaghat, and than goes through Narsinghpur, Hoshangabad, where it is worshipped as if it is a mother, so it is called "MAA NARMADA" meaning Mother Narmada. Than it passes through Dhar near the largest commercial capital of central India, Indore. than enters Gujarat and finally reaches to Arabian Sea. One can watch the pull while travelling in a train during day time between Bhopal Junction and Itarsi Junction The Narmada River is considered the mother and giver of peace. Legend has it that the mere sight of this river is enough to cleanse one's soul, as against a dip in the Ganga or seven in the Yamuna. The Ganga is believed to visit this river once a year, in the guise of a black cow to cleanse herself of all her collected sins.The journey along the river Narmada is in some sense similar to famous parikrama (taking round) of the river, except that the parikrama is of life in the valley of the Narmada.
