Got to agree - that ending was pretty darn swell. I personally prefer the Statesmen Quartet's version, but that's becase I prefer southern gospel to blugrass (though I like bluegrass as well). I think a lot of it ends up being a little high-pitched for me to listen to all the time, unlike the southern gospel quartets like the Statesmen, Florida Boys, Tennesseans, etc. Southern gospel seems, to me at least, to have that rich body that 'gets inside and rumbles around', as I like to say.

@ShallCatsAdore The Statesmen have nowhere near the range that DLQ have in this version, not even close. Other than the sour note Jamie hits(which he was suffering from the flue in this recording) this blows away SS and The Statesmen away!

Incredible ending!

there isn't enough gooseskin and tears in the world for this last 20 seconds...

dang that blew my mind

I like this version, but I think that Hovie Lister and the Sensational Statesmen Quartet are the best, with this one and Ernie Haase and Signature Sound both tying a close second.
Whoa. Nice ending. They must eat their wheaties.
