The US killed 4 million people during the vietnam war. You're a naive tool.

Even before the Taliban appeared as a distinct faction, the mujahideen were closing the girls' schools established in afghan towns by the government, generally violently.

They were all about the same. Karzai's thugs are islamists, the northern alliance are islamists. The only ones who weren't islamists were feudal lords fighting to restore the monarchy and serfdom.

Actually the US did know which groups were being supported. But they didn't care as long as the mujahideen fought the Russians. They didn't care about the Afghan people when they turned Afghanistan in a playground for their political games.

In actuality, it's mostly pakistan's fault. You see Pakistan was the direct overseer of all our funding. Pakistan focused on giving US aid to the most radically islamic groups out of all of the mujahideen. There were plenty of less radical groups like the northern alliance that we should of focused on helping on a lot more.

what all you guys need to understand is that the taliban makes up a very small amount of the former mujahideen. So in a way, we were supporting the taliban but really we were supporting so many different fighters that they were hard to differentiate.
