If you don't mind the extra weight you're going to have to carry around you can actually equip your bow in the left hand, when equipping it hit the left hand attack button once, then use the bow as usual. Only few people seem to know this. But that way you could have your pyromancy flame and a bow at the ready at all times.

Dude there is a bonfire at the base of that moving lift where u beat the second gargoyle. Its also where there is a secret boss.

Instead of leveling your endurance, get a shield with higher stability. Eagle Shield (from Blighttown) is one of the best. Only fault with it is that you can't parry... But you're not really doing that anyway.

maybe you should have used the bonfire next to dark sun Gwendolyn ? its a much more convenient then returning to the first bonfire ...
