Also, what you said about getting a few expensive figures once and awhile and about how one shouldn't just buy every single version of, say, the RX-78 is very true for me. While the reason does involve money and spacing issues, it more has to do with the fact that "as long as the molding detail and/or the joints are great, I won't be needing to buy another version of this figure (this only applying to mecha models/toys in general).
Unlike both of the two in the video, I wouldn't mind if the "Metalbox SD Macross" figures were resin (?) kits. Although I understand the reasons for wanting a version that's already pieced together and painted (due to money/spacing/timing issues).

Crankcase's claws weren't a safety hazard issue, due to the design they frequently broke.
