the S Gundam and its variants is a far superior system to the ZZ, and the inclusion of its AI system makes it a deadly machine to even the best Aces.

If you had to choose between S-Gundam and ZZ what would you choose?

Indeed, but there is a chance that the player might sell the Guntank early in the game for extra credits, loosing their chance to get the S-Gundam.

Funny that it's even a choice. Why would you ever pick Guntank over the S-Gundam?

According to the FAQ, At stage 27 the team finds a damaged S-Gundam. The only way to fix it is to sacrifice the Guntank which prompts the player to choose between S-Gundam or Guntank.
S-Gundam will be upgraded to Ex-S Gundam at stage 48, assuming the player has the unit.

SEED was ok. I could understand why Banpresto would not add gundam sentinel considering the LARGE number of series they had in Alpha 3. But I believe they could have made the S gundam and it's pilot secrets that required unlocking.
