A beautiful little ballad about a great man, musician, and friend Leroi Holloway Moore

Since Dave hasn't played this song yet, there was no video to reference, so I could be off on a few parts, but I think it sounds good for the most part.

Tabs (because I know everyone will ask lol):

Capo 8th fret

Intro: (keep ring finger on 3rd fret of B-string throughout and strum after base note. You'll hear what I'm talking about)
Sorry I know its tight, but it's the only way I could do it

  • when you are playing the bass notes in the intro riff, what strings are you strumming after each bass note?

  • @Connorchaos I tabbed it out in the description

  • I love this. My favorite. I also like ur While My Guitar Gently Weeps. May I request a song for you to sing and upload here? Thanks man.

  • @ariesmanuel2009 what song would you like to request?

  • Dude this is cool but there's no way this is about LeRoi.

  • @stefanpaulgeorge you wouldn't think so, but Dave said it is. It's written as if it's about a girl, but it's all about Roi. If you know the song Grace is Gone, it's also written as if it were about a girl, but Dave wrote it about his stepfather after he died. I'm not exactly sure why though...

  • @twostep03 hm. he dedicated Baby Blue to his wife though at a concert

  • This is great. Well done mate!

  • @twostep03 Grace is gone is about losing ones "grace" when drunk!

  • dude tht sounds great

  • @twostep03 It'd be too personal, too emotionally lewd, and too unimaginative to write it specifically about Roi or Dave's stepfather. That's part of the trick to being a good songwriter. "Oh" is about Dave's grandfather, but you could easily interpret the song to be about a woman, too. It's a way to make the songs translate better to an audience; it leaves room for interpretation on the part of the listener who can then make their own personal attachment to them.

  • this is tight. one of my best DMB songs, and you're perfect at it. i wanna learn guitar just so i can learn this song. play this song at any special occasion, and it'll nab you a chick every time.If there is a god of music, his name is Dave Matthews

  • nice job man especially with the vocals

  • Good job man! However the song isn't about Roi. He co-wrote it.

In an interview DM says "I loved that he liked that song, and in the end it became, just like he'd said, a really tiny song. Which is what it was meant to be when we wrote it together"
