This is the news segment replayed on recent KTVU's "Second Look" program, talking about the MGM Grand Fire that killed 85 people in Las Vegas in 1980 and its aftermath, the most precious part of this video is the opening of "The Ten O'Clock News", you will feel amazing how simple is that opening.

  • great clip. you don't hear intros saying the missing anchor is "ill" anymore.

  • Yes, you will only hear "x is off tonight" now. BTW, the anchor that Elaine Corral mentioned in that clip, Claude Mann was died on Wednesday in Washington State, he was 83 years old.

  • It was a fire trap because the Casinos were still mobbed up in 1980. The mafiosi who ran Vegas (and essentially owned those casinos) didn't give a shit about health or safety violations. They were too busy skimming the casinos and murdering anyone who got in their way.

    Lowlifes.

  • And after this newscast it was Benny Hill lol. I remember well.

  • KTVU was by far the best local news cast. When fox bought them I felt like puking.

  • I miss Leslie Griffith!

  • Elaine was my 7th grade science teacher

    in Daly City

  • Nope; this happens to be from the weekend edition.

Dennis was still doing Monday through Fridays.

  • Claud. No "E".

  • Wow Elaine Corral!!! She looked very young here. The best '80s news show.

  • He'd been working there since 68 and became an anchor in 76. I grew up watching him (born in 90) and I had no clue how long he'd been there. He seemed so eternal that I was surprised when he announced his retirement.

  • Did Dennis Richmond Replace Claude Mann ?
