This 2003 Intrepid has been parked for a month. The engine, a 2.7 liter, runs fine. However, the exhaust is leaking into the passenger compartment and is no longer safe to drive. The transmission, steering and computer are also screwed, with the last one causing the engine to run too rich. It's going to cost way too much to fix this pig considering it's only worth about $2500. The repairs are going to be at least $3500 (no one wants to work on this heap, I'm not either).

It has less than 84,000 miles and not even 40,000 on a rebuilt engine. As an added bonus the rear seatbelt buckles were taken out of a Dynasty because the ones already in unlatched too easily with my kids. I couldn't find a fix for the front seats other than replacing the defective GEN3s with aftermarket belts and buckles (something I'm obviously not doing now).

This isn't so much against Chrysler (I hate them) as it is against auto loans (I hate them even more). The car is a piece of junk, but the fact I bought something I had to make payments on made it a lot worse. Adding the interest, depreciation and repairs and we could have bought a Lexus over the four and a half years we've owned it. We're getting a decent used vehicle in Janaury and paying cash.

  • I see that you are a David's farm fan too ! If you still have this car and it is too expensive to fix : take it to the farm and.... make you happy !!!

Hoping that the farm is not too far from you home.

  • @grosteph58 Yes, I'm a fan too. The engine is also screwed, but I still owe on this thing. We're going to try and pay this thing off soon, but it would be a five hour drive to Dave's farm from where we live. I'd still like to have it do sky hill once though.

  • Thanks for the answer , me is a lot of plane hours to Dave's farm :( sad :(

If this car is really screwed make an "engine blowing" video and sell it for scrap metal=beer money sweeeeeeeet !

Me i am really addict of Dave's Farm ,i can't spend a day without watching Dave's videos after work .

  • @grosteph58 If anything, I'll try and sell it once the loan is paid off. I've thought about an engine blowing video, but the rev limiter would make this an all day thing, not to mention it's in an apartment parking lot. I like watching Dave's videos when he's fixing stuff.

  • @grosteph58 Finally got rid of the Intrepid, used it to buy a trailer hitch for my new ride, a 2004 Buick Rendezvous.

  • As for the bang or pop when you put the damn thing in gear, if you dont already know thats a motor or tranny mount. the bushing is prolly shot to ballz and th metal bracket around the bushing are wackin each other making a really teeth cringing bang. its time to get rid of her, its a lemon, one thing after another. i feel your pain hahaha cuz as ive said before ive had and registered 4 LH cars. But im a auto tech so its much easier to work on lifts and find parts. best of luck my friend.

  • Yep, the tranny mount is shot and even if it was just that and the bushings I'd still get rid of this thing. I have another video on the way just moving the steering wheel back and forth. The sound is something to remember lol! Thanks for comment, always appreciated.

  • @fixinggrace I searched about the Buick "rendez vous" , on the web : it's a nice vehicle .Wish you have good pleasure at the wheel :)

Good luck to fix the trailer hitch ,especially with the electrical .

  • Me too i like Dave's fixing, i tried some of his fixing stuffs ,they works very well !!Some have already helped out on the road. Some of my co-workers shouts to me"HEY REDNECK" when i arrive at job place ! awesome!

To make an engine blowing faster ,drain oil and coolant and floor it( just under the rev limiter) till it die :) it takes less of an half hour to die !

Have a good day man ,it's time to sleep now for me , the road is waiting me tomorrow .
