In a surprising public admission, Gen. Jack Keane, the Army's second in command during the US invasion of Iraq, tells FRONTLINE about his own failure to plan for an insurgency, and how White House rhetoric about "defeating the insurgents" never lined up with the Army's mission.

In "Endgame," FRONTLINE talks with key military strategists and top administration figures about the events leading up to the "surge" of US troops and the likelihood of its success. Coming on air Tuesday, June 19 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings) and online at http://www.pbs.org/frontline/endgame/

  • Frontline is an excellent show and they can do what Fox news and cnn can't, actually do reporting without fancy graphics or dramatic music.

  • Why is the mainstream media not calling for the immediate impeachment or even arrest of GW and his cabal of liars, frauds, theives and murderers. Where is tho outcry of average Americans and families who have lost loved ones to this illegal, immoral and insane

war action? That this administration has any credibility or support by any of the public amazes me.

  • This is a great documentary, by the way. For all those who are unaware of the timeline of events in Iraq, go to pbs and watch this frontline episode. It will allow you to know the facts so you can make an educated decision on where you stand regarding Iraq. It simply breaks my heart to know that we (Bush & Co.) have messed up any chance we had of setting up a democracy in Iraq, which is what the people want...representation in government, whether Western style or not.

  • In all fairness, Gen. Keane has been intricately and inimately involved in this war at every step of the way. He is indeed an expert and his opinion should be heard. He is doing nothing but speaking the truth, and as an American, I appreciate his honesty regarding the situation in Iraq. How else can we move forward without knowing what happened in the past?

  • Always good to have another military "expert" voice pile on this travesty in hindsight. Yes, everyone knows the pre-war intel was fake. The pre-war planning was non-existent. The mid-war strategy has been non-existent up to this ridiculous "surge," and there has never been a logically stated or thought out end game to this mess. "Mission Accomplished" is now over 49 months ago. 49 months of US fatalities and where each day is hell for the surviving Iraqi civilians.

  • This, coming from one of Bush's strongest supporters -- "to defeat the insurgency ... we never had that as a mission in Iraq"

Would someone please tell ASSHOLE George Bush that -- apparently, he doesn't yet know.

  • The luck of comments in this video is a testament of how Americans are in denial about Iraq. What he is describing candidly is a quagmire.
