Stewart Rhodes, the Founder of Oath Keepers, took on Chris Matthews and Mark Potok (it was like a two on one professional wrestling match, but thankfully Potok is a serious lightweight).

Once it became clear that Matthews was acting as Potoks ally rather than as a journalist, Stewart couldnt resist sticking Matthews with a solid jab, saying we swear an oath to the Constitution, not to a man, even if he makes a thrill run up your leg when he talks.

That was in reference to the now famous statement by Matthews last year, when he said listening to Obama speak sent a thrill up his leg. Here is the full quote of that statement: I have to tell you, you know, its part of reporting this case, this election, the feeling most people get when they hear Barack Obamas speech. My, I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I dont have that too often. No, seriously. Its a dramatic event. He speaks about America in a way that has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with the feeling we have about our country. And that is an objective assessment. — Chris Matthews http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brad-wilmouth/2008/02/13/matthews-obama-speech-c...

  • Jarhead46: OK founder Stewart Rhodes graduated from Yale Law School in 2004, where his paper Solving the Puzzle of Enemy Combatant Status won Yales Miller prize for best paper on the Bill of Rights. (stewart-rhodesDOTblogspotDOTcom)

Stewart publicly criticized the Bush admin for not obeying our Constitution, just as Obama did. However, when Obama took office he simply adopted the Bush admin crimes. See our video: Oath Keepers is a Non-Partisan Association

What have you done to speak out?

  • this was so painful to watch, matthews reminds me of wet toilet paper stuck to the bathroom ceiling in school,

  • 0:32 "Where is this thing called the government? It's all unified and working against you. Where does that exist!?"

Chris - It EXISTS in the almost UNANIMOUS signing of the NDAA violating almost EVERY Amendment in the Constitution.

It EXISTS in the Supreme Court dismissing ALL the claims against Capitol Hill/White House/Wall Street for REPARATIONS.

    THAT'S WHERE Chris. That's where.

  • Why is Chris Matthews and Mark Potok so worried about my God given rights?

  • is it me, or does mark potak look like a retarded version of george lucas? i'm just saying!

  • Wow, Matthews is such a scumbag. Fuck you Matthews, and fuck your masters, you little dirty puppet. Want to live at FEMA camp? Go ahead. We're not going with you, you little prick.

  • Chris Matthews is such a disgrace.

  • As I read it, this is all the Oath Keepers are all about. If they were a subversive/militia thinking kind of group, I would think that there would be few members, since this would be a violation of the U.S. Constitution as well. According to their precepts, the members of this group abide by the U.S. Constitution, not violate it. In the midst of the arrest of several news journalists within the past year who were covering news stories in the U.S., there does appear to be some confusion here.

  • The government, at all levels, is put in place by the American electorate. If we elect a bad group of people, then shame on us. Some people may say that we deserve anything that comes our way, and maybe they're right. It is nice to know that in spite of ourselves there are those in the military and law enforcement who would continue to follow the U.S. Constitution and refuse to engage upon receipt of unlawful orders.

  • Now, Chris, is this something that we should be concerned about? Maybe we should continue to live in la la land and be happy while our rights continue to be chipped away. No way! This is the land of the free and the home of the brave, and some of us take this quite seriously, especially the "free" part.

  • In 1995-96, at Ft. Bragg the 82nd Airborne were asked in a questionnaire if they would fire upon the American public if ordered to do so. More than 98%, as I recall, responded that they would do just that. Nearly 99% of the 3rd Special Forces stated that they would not fire upon American citizens. Shortly thereafter, either in 1996 or 1997, the 3rd Special Forces were moved to Ft. Campbell, the home of the 101st Airborne Division, which also responded as did the 3rd Special Forces.
