On May 1, 2010, at a ragtime party, 17-year-old Will Perkins practiced the tunes he was going to perform at the 2010 World Championship of Old-Time Piano Playing later that month.
This tune is a stride version of a cello standard from the 19th century by composer Jean Gabriel-Marie the elder. The arrangement originates with the classic stride pianist Donald Lambert, who was known for his stride versions of classical music. Lambert's version was transcribed by contemporary pianist Paul Asaro, from whom Will learned it.
This tune is the first track on Will's debut album, "A Little Bit of Everything in Ragtime". You can order it from Will directly. Send him a message on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/wilscool
In the competition, Will placed fourth in the Junior Division. The division was won by 13-year-old Morgan Siever.
A very nice song to learn. Well worth putting the effort into mastering it. Shows you have good taste.

:) this is cool.. I like how the bass just keeps running along, while the treble follows at a rather slower pace.
