Activists fight for a permit to protest on Michigan Ave in Chicago.
For the last three years, antiwar activists have battled the City of Chicagos policy to forbid free speech on major city streets. This year, they again applied for a permit to protest legally -- AND WON -- at a time when civil liberties are under growing attack nationally. We learn more from activist Andy Thayer.

No. Without permits anybody can hold a protest at anytime. It is such an inconveniance getting across town with a protest going on every fucking day.

It's odd how America brags about freedom but you have to fight for the right to march on YOUR streets.
THey try to make you thing your free by saying "rights" but you don't have freedoms or rights you have privilages. GO get the freedom, not the privilages.

Great video editing, footage and documentary clip. I am happy to see that their persistant activism made a change. It's a shame that this city pushed them to do so.

Oh yeah, it's okay for corporations to shut down the streets for their own selfish and gluttonous reasons, but people exercising their Constitutional rights to free speech and to peaceful assembly against a war based on lies is just not allowed! What is becoming of our country?!
