  • Its period big band music. It Glenn Miller. One of the best orchrestra people of that time.

  • Pilots who flew fires with postwar B-17s said the planes seemed happier to be flying peaceful missions. Of course, the slicker performance was due to the reduced drag and weight from the guns being removed. Still, many B-17s flew with impossible damage as if they had their own will to protect their crews. I dunno, I guess I can believe God may have put a soul into some of them.

  • Legendary aircraft! Thumbs up!

  • I was at this display! If you saw the car out near the runway, that was me and some airport staff! :)

  • this is the toughest propellered bomber the airforce has, this thing will not give up, no matter how many fighters try and tear it apart, a strong bomber that's heavily armored, and, heavily gun armed, plus, the bomb capacity isn't bad at all, the only bomber stronger, is the Boeing B-29 Superfortress, that is a beast of a plane

  • amazing. love the music with it too by the way!

  • i was lucky enough to be in paignton when i was 9 (10 years ago) and they has a lancaster and meishersmit(excuse my spelling) flying around for half the day, was an awsome site,

  • Actually, the movie has very little to do with the real Memphis Belle. It is, however based on experiences of numerous other B-17s. The B-17 was just an amazingly tough airplane, and some did come home on just one engine. Some were so torn up that they fell apart after stopping on the runway, but they still brought their crews home. All around, a beautiful aircraft. Every now and then, you can still see one in the skies over San Diego. BEAUTIFUL SIGHT!

  • ever see the memphis belle, how was that thing still moving? i know its a film but it was based on the real damage the memphis belle took in its final mission

  • excellent footage, well fitted for Glen's music.

there's no sound like the roaring symphony of those four Cyclones.

    thanks for posting.

  • i give my left feet for one flight with this b-17
