In 1966 Sergio Mendes scored one of his biggest hits with a composition by Brazilian singer/songwriter Jorge Ben Jor. Then, in 2006, 40 years later (!) Mendes re-recorded the same song, this time together with the famous hip-hop group 'Black Eyed Peas'. And, once again, "Mas Que Nada" conquered the hitparades ! Consequently, Mendes became the oldest (65) artist (in recent years) to appear in a hitparade.... Here, David Whitaker and His Orchestra bring us a fine arrangement, where emphasis has been put on the 'relaxing' -kind of "laid back" - aspect of the tune. Whitaker mainly was known for accompanying some well known stars like eg Margaret Whiting and Anita Harris, but he also recorded some albums under his own name.
From one of these - the 1967 album "Latin in the Night" comes this lovely version of "Mas Que Nada". Enjoy the music !
