This is a video of a minimally invasive endscopic cricopharyngeal myotomy performed at the Voice and Swallowing Institute at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. It is an instruction and demonstration of the surgical technique used in this surgery that traditionally requires a neck incision. The endoscopic approach is highly specialized and performed only at a few institutions internationally. It is safer, requires less time under genral anesthesia and allows for a faster more comfortable recovery.
@KingNast No, this is for CPD, not the spasm. Crico spasm cannot be cured with surgery.

@PassionOfTheDevil666 It is the surgery for cricopharyngeal dysfunction which makes it hard to swallow solid foods. The cricopharyngeal muscle is dissected with a laser to make it easier for a person to swallow

@PassionOfTheDevil666 probably cricopharyngeal spasm.. the cricopharyngeal muscle is permanently constricted and it sucks.. I've had it for about 2 years now. If you push on your throat just below your adams apple, that's what it feels like all the time. It doesn't hurt, but it's really uncomfortable

what was wrong with the person to have to do that? what was the problem here? what was solved here?
