Which kind of magic item drops the group gets should be somewhat balanced by the GM ofcourse. But money should be an issue roleplayed by the players. In the groups I run, tricksters, thiefs and other such type of chars tend to end up with alot more money than the others, since they steal/take stuff without the group knowing. Using systems to divide loot is totally weird unless the group has roleplayed that system out. Such systems just gives people the feel of playing an mmo, and not a rpg.
@woodwwad Well in a group I play we do that, and it works perfectly. In every other group I have played and we didn't use a system like that in best case scenario some ppl felt it was unfair for their chars because everyone else had magic items except them, in worst case it turns to a situation where someone (usually the rogue) steals loot all the time, which leads everyone else to a ''I killed that, I take its loot'' mentality. So I feel that an out-of-game agreement is preferable.
I'd have a big problem with the 1 guy you mention that always want to sell the items to the party, if he does this with character after character, it would seem that he isn't role-playing at all. Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts here. As I've done a vid response to this as well, I won't go into more detail here.
interesting system, very much similar to dragon point how they are used in MMOs by some guilds...I might implement something similar in my own campaign.
@MrReki101 That's what I do as well. Well, in the past. We've no slipped into the darkness of low magic, insufficient coin in circulation so 'treasure' is a bit thin on the ground. And in pockets. But yeah, it is cool to watch it play out. The personalities in RP is golden when a twinkle hits the eye.
Our group tends to divide in the field as to who can use items. Then when we get to where we can sell items, figure how much things can sell for, total it up and divide, then grab items based off of dollar value. When someone's short, they need to get a loan from someone in the group, not the group in general.

It's cool to see you doing video responses to other RPG channels. :) Good job on living up to your New Year's resolutions.

I let the players divide the treasure themselves. It's more realistic and occasionally pretty fun to watch.
