  • Very interesting. How many moves did this take? Is this confirmed as the longest mate by computer analysis?

    Sam Sloan

  • The longest mate is 72 moves.

I just changes the end because Black give a Knight sooner to be checkmate about 2 moves later.

  • From a pratical point of view, studying this kind of ending is a waste of time. What are the chances to get to this endgame in a real game? But of course it is always nice to learn new things! Very interesting video anyway!

  • Just my luck, had a huge scalp within my grasp years ago in a blitz game following a blunder of a rook by my opponent, a grandmaster, but very sneakily he clouded the position tactically and tricked me into going for this ending. Not knowing what to do in the foggiest how to mate him and with the clock ticking down i walked into a fork losing my queen. Happily though at least, i got the draw!

  • @spooky0834 You don't consider that you will have to move your knights or if you don't you will be checkmated as if there were no knights at all.

  • doesnt that just mean this game is a draw because the rule about 50 moves with no taking and its a draw?

  • its quite impossible to lose with two knights.each knight defends the other and you can make 50 moves with your king,so its a draw

  • @rocco133 50 moves without material change or pawn move is supposed to be a draw, but the rule is often extended for endings like this.

  • Feel free to believe whatever you want. As the rules are freely accessible in the net there is no need to debate about it. Just look it up. It is definitely wrong.

  • @cLiPz0r I'm pretty sure it isn't...cuz the person who COULD capture can refuse to capture in order to force a draw then. I've seen the 50 moves only start counting when a side has only a king to be able to move.

  • @metricprime That is wrong. Over 50 moves without capture or pawn move always lead to a draw.

  • it's over 50 moves when only the king is able to move.
